Lori and Faye here. Faye says Lori now resides in Texas---won't be at the reunion, H.S. football obligations. Also says she is a Cowboys fan---must be out in the sun too much. Faye is planning on being at the reunion. Don't like Styx---Do like the Lite poster with the guy from Animal House though......

These are a couple of more pictures from Vicki---some familiar faces among the bunch here. Unknown reasons for the celebration--possibly just another day ending in y......

Alumni Newsletter Article

If you haven't checked it out yet, go HERE for the alumni article about Homecoming 2009 which makes mention of our group!  Check out everything that is going on Homecoming weekend - we are within two weeks!

This just in ....... I just found out there there was another article just about our reunion!  CLICK HERE
Way to go Chuck, nice press!!  But hey, they forgot the 'e' in Van Horne all but the last time.  If you are going to be a big celebrity, they better get your name right!

In the words of Flounder "Oh boy, this is gonna be great!"

Have some pictures here submitted by Wendy---let's see here---I recognize Noreen and Wendy in the Halloween pic, and the girl in the middle of the back row looks familiar, don't know the two in the front though. Chuck and Thad at the Christmas party (nice sweater)--don't recognize the girl (Wendy?) or the MC. Bottom row I know Wendy but not the guy (she looks happy about it though), and finally Matt with a couple of unidentified friends.

Hey on another note, I no math genius, but I know two weeks equals fourteen days, and I know in fourteen days I will be in Oshkosh, Therefore, that counter over on the left there must be incorrect. I'll get a man on it. Sorry if this messes up anyone's time line.....

Note from Shoobie - The clock has been adjusted to midnight Friday 10/16.  Can only set it to midnight on a given day, otherwise I would have set it for dinner time Friday, but this will have to be close enough.  Nonetheless, it now does show 14 days to go!  By the way, I did graduate with a Math degree :)

Here's a peach--Shoobie with a Pabst. Either way behind or way ahead of the times....can't quite figure out where this is taken--maybe the King Pin's house? Would make sense. Hey just flippin' channels the other day and what's on but the Urban Cowboy---got me to thinkin' about the old End of the Trail. Like to have a few of those nights back. Buck pitchers and free peanuts on Wednesdays--great way to start the weekend. You'd find peanuts in your pockets all week. Then they had that mechanical bull for awhile---never brave enough or drunk enough for that. And of course, Curley's Hat Band---one of my fav's. Everyone remember before that when the place was J. D. Finnegan's? I had forgotten about that barber chair they had (thanks Michelle), but I do remember all you disco kings and queens on the dance floor.....of course later on--people of the Alibi---somebody pass me a wedge....

This is 5th floor 79-80. Not nearly as many as the previous year. The rest of the girls were probably at the Library. Or studying. Picture of Mare here, being the CA, setting the good example....

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Well, here we have a picture of Lori and that kinda' looks like one of those illegal quarter barrels in the dorms. Now I've been told how some of the guys might have gotten a qb into the dorms, and I remember Lori being a tough cookie, but I gotta' believe she musta' had some help with this. Don't know whatever happened with Lori---remember she was always around in Oshkosh though. Anybody got any info?????

Like the Stroh's poster....classic....
This is an update on post football game "fifth quarter". This year it is at the Comfort Suites on Koeller St. This is the frontage road east of Hwy.41, south of Witzal, north of 9th. Looks like a nice place for accomadations if you are looking for lodging....

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Okay gang, this is what you look for in Oshkosh---not the kids you salmons, the sign. You find it, you find us. This is no hidden treasure hunt---you've seen the itinerary, we'll be following it pretty closely. See you all soon!

I think these must be from Halloween--duh. Costumes are so good I don't even recognize the girls. Looks like Bruce is doing some judging in this picture. Wonder why lack of costume? Killer Bees? Didn't remember them being around that long ago--suppose so though....reminds me of Belussi.

Monday, September 28, 2009

All right we are now a mere 20 days away from the reunion. There are quite a few folks who read this blog (there are counters), so if your coming to the reunion please make sure you have your ducks in a row---hotel reservations if your staying, dinner reservations if your dining, etc. If your not going to be able to make it, sorry about that, you are going to miss one heck of a good time. We'll probably just talk about you. If you are undecided, hope you'll decide to come. If you heard directly from us, somebody who will be at the reunion wanted you found--if you were just directed here, hope you'll join us for a beer and some memories. If you have any pictures you might want to share, follow the information at the left. As always, please pass the information on to anyone we may have missed--or anyone you want to see at the reunion. Looking forward to seeing everyone in 20 days!

Still more pictures from the 5th floor---these appear to be from the Regatta, must be spring of '79. Pictures are a little bit faded, but that tends to happen over the years I guess. The caption for the first picture says Kim Marge and Nancy--don't know the deal with the tickets saying 1973 though. In the second picture I can make out Mose, Shoobie, and Russ among others. Please take note that North Scott was well ahead of the times by having an alternative beverage on hand for those who may have preferred a non-alcoholic beverage. Third picture here is of Jamie and a couple of friends--I wonder why the police "cruiser" is there......

On another note--had a wonderful time at Mel's Pig Roast yesterday. Would encourage everyone to make plans to attend this event next year hosted by Tom Stanton --Mel. Cold beer, great food, nice weather, nice people, and a great cause. What more could you ask for?

Lisa, hope to see you in a couple of weeks in Oshkosh.....

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Picture here of some of the girls playing some sort of parlor game. They look pretty serious about it, must be some pretty high stakes. Starting to notice a pattern in these 5th floor pictures as well....

Off to Mel's Pig Roast today, hope to see some of you there!!

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Not certain who this guy is, but he sure looks pleased with himself. Looks like some kind of afternoon picnic type action here. Probably a Wednesday. Not certain who everyone in the pictures are, so I will remain silent on that instead of making a fool of myself.

On another subject, I am hearing through the vine that people think they are too old, gray etc.---people, let it slide!!!! Just looking to get together to celebrate the ol' days....have a little fun, share a few memories, tell a few lies.....

Have some more 5th floor pictures here--These pictures from Vicki really brought back lots of memories. As I go through the pictures many of the faces are familiar, but it is sometimes hard to put a name with them. Don't be shy about adding any info you'd like. Also remember to get those pictures in to the address to the left, and we'll get them up here on the blog. Nice shot Amy.......

Friday, September 25, 2009

Don't forget Mel's Pig Roast in Cedarburg on Sunday. If you are going for fish dinner in Oshkosh on the 16th at Fratello's tell them you are with North Scott when you reservate. Molly Hatchete at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Sat at 9. Free show. Drive your motorcycle. TTFN.

Now this is what I'm talkin' about. Got a mother lode of pictures today of the 5th floor (which I have learned was not a quiet floor in our era). Vicki sent these in, and I'll get them on the blog asap. Looks like Faye, Michelle, Vicki and Lori here---next up looks like a couple of the boys doing a little burrowin' in. Next up looks like a bunch of the girls having a little hall party, and finally the '78-'79 floor picture. They must have had more discretionary funds to get the picture in color. Hope you can find yourself. Don't know if Vicki is planning to attend the reunion, but I hope so--need to thank her for the pictures. Keep the eyes peeled--plenty more to come!
We are now a mere three weeks away from Homecoming Weekend. Time to confirm reservations if you are dining or staying the night in Oshkosh. Also get a hold of any of the folks who still haven't decided if they will join us or not. As Kevin commented on one of the posts ( I paraphrase), its taken thirty years to get this together, you don't want to miss it.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Don't know how this happened, but.....just got an email from Spid Pieper. Spid was the singer at Scott Hall Regatta, must have been spring of '79. Remember it was a wonderful afternoon of beer and music, water sking and a trip to New Holstein. Great memories. Also saw Spid one weekend in the New Cow area, remember doing the gator in the middle of the state highway. Don't know if Spid is still out and about, but I'll let you know.....

Got a shot here...don't know the background on this one, but I can imagine---looks like typical good time on the seventh floor. Know that Mare and Mose will be at the reunion, hoping Laurie and Cindy make it as well...

Monday, September 21, 2009

Got to thinking about some of the inventions and innovations of the last thirty years or so. Obviously the PC has to be one if not the biggest change we've had. First PC in '81 (remember MS DOS?), the Web in '90. Then you've got the cell phone--not as big as big as a shoebox anymore. You have the IPod---amazes me, you're video gaming systems (quite different than PONG, which was pretty cool way back then). You've got cd's(already on the way out?), replacing the album--no more stacking the wax. Then of course there's all the medical stuff---and cloning! Interesting times we've been in---so what have I forgot?????

Saturday, September 19, 2009

We are now a mere 4 weeks away from the reunion, and I hope everyone has their plans in place. i've had a few people tell me they have something has come up, or maybe they'll be at the next one. To them I say many things only happen once, so.....Hope to see you all in a month!

Friday, September 18, 2009

I've completed sending out informational invites to the reunion this past week. I think I've sent the info to everyone I've ever heard of on the list I have of the folks who lived in North Scott in the late 70's early 80's. There are a few I've been unable to locate, so feel free to help! Take a couple of minutes to print out the letter from the April 2 blog, and drop it in the mail to anyone you can remember from Oshkosh. We're only 30 days out now, looking for a megaload of people on the 16-17th weekend. Hoping to see you all there!!!

Top 100 Songs of 1979

Ok, here is another music playlist to get you in the mood for the reunion.  This is the Top 100 Songs of 1979.  Once again some rockin' gems, some disco hits, some sappy and some crappy.  Hearing the songs definitely gives you some flashbacks to where you were and what you were doin'.  Have fun listening!

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Going through a few pictures.....anyone else remember Phil feeding the piranahs, or being the electrician when things got a little bit out of hand, or how about when he called the Vatican to talk to the Pope? Ah, great memories....

Monday, September 14, 2009

Another interesting picture from the Wichmann files.....must be those liberal college kids. Only 34 short days until the reunion, hope all your plans are going well. Be sure to check here as we get closer to October 16 for updated information.......

WELCOME TO ALL THOSE DIRECTED HERE FROM THE UW-O ALUMNI NEWS. HOPE YOU ALL CAN MAKE IT TO HOMECOMING, WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!!!!!!!

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Received an email week or 10 days ago from Ray Cyrus. He spent 4 years as a resident in North Scott (record?). The thing that got me about this was that he was on 9th floor, which was the International floor. I had completely forgotten about this. I think Marcus and Scaboo lived up there, but I don't recall ever heading up or really having much contact with those residents. Another missed opportunity. Don't know if it is still an International Floor or not. Unfortunately, Ray will not be able to join us for the reunion.

Need to know by Sept. 2o if people are interested in a North Scott tour. If there is interest we have to set it up with the Alumni Association. Let us know at northscotthall@aol.com.

Don't forget about Mel's Pig Roast in Cedarburg on the 27th.

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

New feature there on the left. if you have any good questions let us know and we'll get them up....

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Here is a picture of the North Scott power structure, circa 1979 or so. I recognize Deb and Deb, the Bads, tall girl on the left, but don't know her name. What is the deal with the Quaker Oats? Thought that didn't happen until you moved off campus....

Sunday, September 6, 2009

Hope you all have a safe an relaxing Labor Day weekend with friends and family. Remember, only six weeks until North Scott Hall reunion....

Friday, September 4, 2009

Today's quick quiz.....Who are these camera shy North Scott residents? As always, some nominal prize will be awarded.

How anyone remembered the first 4 VJs I'll never know, but somehow Mary knew them all. Good for you(?), Mare......

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Difficult to believe it is only seven weeks until the reunion.....plan on wrapping up my search for people soon (depending on my clerical help), so if there is anyone you may want us to try and find, let us know soon. Need to take a moment here to address some concerns people seem to have about the reunion and why they may not be able to attend......your fish will be fine, you don't really need to change the oil, the cat does not need a bath, the boat can be winterized now!!!! I will guarantee every one of you except one that you will not be the oldest, youngest, tallest, shortest, heaviest, lightest, most successful, least successful, grayest, baldest, etc. etc. I don't think anybody really cares. Time to stop making excuses and start making plans to be in Oshkosh in October! Hope to see you there....

More Music - 1978

So we got a request to add more music lists by categories - such as by year, by type (disco, country, etc.) and so on. So here is the first list - more to come. This is the top 100 songs of 1978. Everything from disco, to sappy, to Grease.....quite the mix. Check it out.

Sittin' around listing to some tunes from 1978-1983, what I have taken to calling the "Scott Hall Era", and for some reason I got to thinking about MTV, not the bogus trash of today, but the original 1981 MTV. Got to thinking about the VJs. Okay, who were they. First correct answer should merit some sort of prize. No cheating--that means don't go looking it up. Anyone have a good memory?

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Random picture of "Johnny Rebs" here....almost looks like a quarter barrel, but that can't be because those are not allowed in the dorms, are they....besides, I have no idea how you could get one up to seventh floor, do I????? Looks like Mose to the right with the silo, too.....

Saturday, August 29, 2009

I sit here in August with the apparent onset of winter here. Reminds me of UW-O Winter Carnival from 1979. Carol (hall director) told me that we had twice as many people as any other residence hall, so we should go for it. Don't think Scott Hall had done anything in the campus activities before that, but we gave it a good run. I remember there was a snow or ice sculpting contest, a trivia contest, and of course the broom ball tournament (amongst other activities). I know some of the guys on the broom ball team were Dan, Ricky, Tom, Russ, Shoobie, and even Wenz I think (have no idea why I didn't play---seems like something I would have done). My favorite part is when I told Carol we needed more/better brooms. After much discussion she agreed, saying we could always use them for cleanup after the tournament. Of course, she wasn't very happy after we got a case of new brooms to see us sawing off the bristles so they would be more suitable for broomball. Sadly, North Scott was only able to take second place for the winter carnival. All that survives of the magnificent trophy is the face plate......guess we shouldn't have kept it on that shelf.........

Friday, August 28, 2009

Okay people, only 50 days to go......it will come and go quickly............so, firm up the plans, invite the friends, get ready for a good time.........Now, anybody know who the folks in these pictures are?????????

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Here's a picture of the guys from Thirsty's, JoeL and Dugan. I'm sure many of you ran across them when you had to go pick up supplies. I'll bet I spent 40 or 50 dollars there myself. Don't have any idea what the deal is with the Joan Jett--they probably don't either.

This is a picture of Thirsty's today, right there next to Hungri's. Alas, apparently out of business......

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

If you are planning to attend the reunion (or even think you might) drop us a quick line if you get a chance---got something brewing and am trying to get an accurate count. Thanks. email northscotthall@aol.com

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Got a couple of questions concerning photos. Frankly, I don't know how to send them(or receive them, for that matter), so here is how we are going to do this. Take your photos and make copies (copy machine, printer, etc). Take the COPIES send them to us. We will then post them on the blog--our standards may not be very high, but we do have them, so please use some discretion with the pics. Send them to "Chuck"
324 E. Wisconsin Ave--Suite 405
Milwaukee, Wi 53202

Also, a couple of 5th floor girls are planning on joining us for the reunion. Faye and Jamie, look forward to seeing you!!

Monday, August 24, 2009

Hey we're getting some support for our reunion from Miller Brewing Co. They support us, hope you support them!

A couple of girls don't recall being in Scott Hall pictures. Perhaps these shots from the 1980 Christmas party will help with the ol' memory. Happy Holidays!

By the way, who is that Santa?

Sunday, August 23, 2009

Here we have some pictures of people who have said they are planning to attend the reunion. We've got Rebs, Russell, Mary, Chuck, Shoobie, Thad and Doug. Am hoping for some pictures to arrive from some other folks this coming week. Don't forget to contact everyone you know from the Oshkosh days and encourage them to join us in October....

Friday, August 21, 2009

Couple of pictures here of folks we have contacted who haven't gotten back to us yet. There is still plenty of time for people to join us in Oshkosh in October, so spread the word. Looking forward to seeing you all this fall!!

Thursday, August 20, 2009

We are now basically 8 weeks from the reunion. THIS WILL GO VERY FAST!!!!!! Hope you are all finalizing your plans! Do not DIT it, do it today......

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Judging from the background and the drinking vessels in these pictures, it would appear to me that these are pictures of a progressive party. I'm sure you all remember these events. Three or four rooms would get together and mix up a concoction for the rest to share. Once it was gone, move on to the next room. I always thought it was so nice that we would start on the guys end of the dorm so that we could make sure everything was going okay.

Monday, August 17, 2009

Here we are, just a little less than 9 weeks until the reunion weekend. Just checked one of our counters and I find 158 unique visitors to the blog for the past week. Don't know who you all are, but I hope you all plan on attending the reunion.

Mary has gotten ahold of Fratello's, the brew pub on the Fox River a little north of campus. They are holing some tables for us, so if you are interested in dinner on Friday the 16th call 920-232-2337 for a resevation. Tell them your with Mary for the North Scott reunion. Hope to see a bunch of you there. Keep checking back in for more information and great pictures (speaking of pictures, we are always looking for more!!).

Sunday, August 16, 2009

Well, we have a gem .....looks like a little toga party action. I'm guessing late '78 early '79 here. We've got Laurie Keller, Julie McCabe and Sherri Nettisheim in the front row, Mark Wenzel in the back row, and in the middle looks like we've got Mark Bell, Andrew Gingrasso, probably Jane Beno, and the other two girls I can't make out. Sorry ladies, but if its you (or you know who they are), let us know and we'll fill 'em in.

Mary says the girl on the right is Betsy Lamb and I believe her. One mystery girl left........

Get Fired Up

OK, the Party Music playlist is now up to 100 songs. Check it out. If this doesn't start to get you fired up, maybe it's time for you to get your AARP Card and settle into your easy chair. CLICK HERE to go to the tunes. Send an e-mail to e-mail northscotthall@aol.com if you have other songs that you wan to add to the list.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Well, here we have a few pictures from the Mary Wichmann files. Looks to be one our famous 12 pack hall parties....Let's see, Dan (nice beard) and Brett in some kind of business transaction, Mose firing up a little Animal House action, Chuck wearing Oscar's hat (Don't ask), Shoobie in the Farrah T-shirt (think it was vintage then already), and Harold wisely having a Miller Lite (good for career plans, eh?). I would imagine about 6:45 the next morning Stalin was cleaning up the cans......

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Well, we might just as well finish this off while we are at it.....this is 80/81, 54 people in the picture. I don't recall where these steps are (help!), and there are plenty of people here I don't recall. Perhaps Roy, Mel and Tom G. and help us out here. Let's start with....

We have 44 people in the picture, so I numbered them starting at the lower left. If you know someone (or if I screwed up) drop an email or hit the comment box. This shouldn't take too long, should it?

26 down, only 18 to go......

GEEZ, JUST CHECKED THE QUAILTY WHEN I ENLARGED THE PICTURE, PRETTY CRUMMY--WILL TRY TO DO BETTER. JUST FIND YOURSELF, I'M SURE YOU ALL REMEMBER WHERE YOU WERE STANDING/SITTING, AND THEN CHECK YOUR NEIGHBOR....

Alright, here we have 7th floor from '78/'79. We'll be trying to track down as many of these folks as we can, now that we have more names. I know there were a heck of a lot more people living on the floor back then....must have all been in class or at the library.

Got a couple of notes saying the pictures were too small to see. Click on the picture, people. Hope this helps.....

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Okay, just got some pictures in from Mary, a virtual treasure trove. As much as I'd like to post all of the pictures now, I can't, because they are just too good. I'm going to start here with a picture from the way, WAY back machine, something taken a little earlier than when most of us lived in North Scott---though there are those we know. How bout the foresight of Mary to record everyone's name. Now I can't believe that 7th floor was the only floor to have floor pictures taken, so if they're out there (and I know they are!) drop me a line so we can get them on the blog. And play close attention here because there are many more photos to come....

Sunday, August 9, 2009

Hey State Fair is in full swing, have had a wonderful time there over the years. Some of us are planning on meeting Friday the 14th, so if you're out on the grounds on Friday stop by Robert's on Grandstand Ave around 6 (maybe a little earlier?) and say hi. Hope to see ya'.

Thursday, August 6, 2009

After deep thought (not so much) have been able to remember a couple of other profs. Davey Jones of the Poli Sci dept may have been my last instructor (watch the borders, if you were there you'll understand). And I believe one of my first professors was good ol' Rassmuesson (sp?) for Accounting I back in the fall of '78. Think I was 4-3. I know where 4-1 and 4-2 are, but have no clue as to whatever happened to 4-4. She seemed like a nice girl, probably thought we were nuts....

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

So I've been visiting colleges with my son, looking for a good fit. I'm sure many of you have done the same. One of their selling points always seems to be how easy it is to sit down and have a cup of coffee to discuss things with the professors. This gets me to thinking, they don't need coffee, they need MINGLE TINGLE!!! There was a place you could talk to some professors! As I personally think back though, I can only remember five or six profs. There was Watson Parker (favorite), Dr Okhs (scared me), Werner Brattz, the speech guy who reminded me of Bob Newhart, and of course Dr. Keen, all dressed up like Roy Orbison. I can't even think of another--I need to look this up. Any recollections of professors out there? Either post a comment or head over to the bulletin board and share some memories.....

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Alright, here's one for the "this can't be true" column. Was looking at some stuff online about UW-O and found this site---http://everything2.com/?node_id=104283. There really is no reason to go there, I only list it for proof in case anyone doubts what I say here. On this site it says that North Scott Hall 5th floor is designated as a quite floor. This baffles me. Was it always so designated? I know a few people who lived on this floor, they were not quiet! I remember some trolling---not quiet! Somebody please fill me in, I need to know!!!
